Living Warriors: Flux

£8.50

This book features the words of the 2022, Living Words: Flux project members.

A group of 26 LGBTQIA+ young people from Folkestone, came together to use the spoken and written word to explore their relationship with themselves, and how the language they use impacts that relationship. The group explored the self through the lens of kindness, power and the opposites of those two words, before supporting themselves and one another to speak their words aloud.

Flux is a year-long project featuring a collective of cultural orgsnisations across Kent and Medway, together with the social care and public health sectors. Through the use of creativity, we aim to give specific groups of young people across Kent tools to express and see themselves in new ways.

Living Warriors: Flux is a series of projects with LGBTQIA+ young people, taking place in Folkestone, Kent across the seasons of 2022.

Living Words is a national arts and literature organsation based in Kent. We work with people who are experiencing or have experienced specific challenges. We’re most known for working with people experiencing dementias, the care sector, isolation, and mental health.

We have been working in our Listen Out Loud since 2007 - a creative technique that brings two people together, one to speak and one to write. Together they create individualised word books. These words are sometimes then shared with the public through publication, performance, film, and song.
